We’ve had a whirlwind of a summer…Done a lot of traveling. One of the places we visited was Egypt. I never thought I would go to Egypt and never wanted to. It was definitely not on my top 10 list of places to visit, but our friends, Rick and Denise Renner invited us on a cruise up the Nile. We began in Cairo and flew down to Luxor to meet our ship. It was an incredible journey!!!

The first thing that impressed me was the lush, green vegetation right along the Nile River. For about 2 blocks on either side, it was green. Palm trees, banana plants, papyrus and other vegetation grew wild. It was beautiful, but it stopped abruptly. From there on all you could see was desert. As a matter of fact, the country is mostly desert.

Psalm 1:1-3 came alive to me. It encourages us to walk with godly people and then tells us to meditate on God’s Word day and night. The benefits of doing so are becoming like a tree planted by rivers of living water. With this picture in front of me for days, I could see the stark difference between spending time meditating on the Word and not. Fixing my thoughts on scripture produces life. Focusing on thoughts contrary to it is like living in a desert. It is an either or situation.

The choice concerning what we meditate on is ours. What we meditate on will determine how our life will go. Choose life! Attend to God’s Word! Let it lead you…..Be like a tree planted by rivers of living water.
